Practical information

Firstly, on Wednesday evening, 20:00 we will have an informal get-together for drinks/food at Cafe du Rond Point, and all are welcome to attend.

IMPORTANT – CONFERENCE ROOM CHANGES

The morning sessions on Thursday 1st March, will be held in Room AJ208, Aile Jura, Uni Bastions, Rue de Candolle 5.

The rest of the sessions following this (including on Friday) will be in Room B111, Uni Bastions, Rue de Candolle 5.

Please note that the rooms AJ208 (Thurs morning) and B111 (rest of workshop) are in different parts of the building, as indicated on map.

MEALS

If you would like to join for any/all of the meals, please email niels.linnemann@unige.ch to RSVP.

LUNCH on both days will be held at the university cafeteria in Uni Dufour, (Rue du Général-Dufour 24). The cafeteria offers a choice of hot meals each day, including vegetarian, as well as some sandwiches and salad bar. Meals for speakers and CUSO members will be paid by the conference. For other participants, the cost is around 15 fr, depending on your choices.

DINNER on Thursday evening will be at L’Italia (Boulevard des philosophes 4), where the pizza and pasta dishes are the most popular on the menu, costing around 25 fr, but also offers other meals.

Finally, if you are still around on Friday evening after the conference, we will informally visit the Bains des Paquis for the best fondue in Geneva, on the lake, costing 25 fr pp. Please try to arrive at 7 pm as we have a table booked for then.

TRANSPORT

  • From the Airport to Cornavin (Geneva’s train station)
    There is a ticket machine in the luggage pick-up area of the airport on the right of each CUSTOMS exit that delivers free (!) tickets valid for 80 minutes on the whole network of the Genevan public transportation (TPG). Here is a picture of one these ticket machines:

  • After customs, follow the sign indicating the airport train station, i.e. head left all the way until the end of the hall. Once you are in the train station, take ANY train (all trains go downtown) and get off at the first stop, i.e. Cornavin.
  • From Cornavin to Hôtel Bel’Espérance
    Bus: 8/25 from Cornavin to Rive or 9 from Cornavin to Métropole.
  • From Cornavin to the workshop
    Tram 15 from Cornavin to Plainpalais, tram 18 from Cornavin to Place de Neuve, bus 5 from Cornavin to Athénée.
